Welcome to fifth grade!  My name is Carrie Alexander and I am looking forward to being your child’s homeroom teacher this year.  This will be my 10th year to teach fifth grade. I will teach your child communication arts (reading, language, and spelling), social studies, and math.  Nancy Summers will teach science.

Fifth Grade is always an exciting year for students as the “big kids” at Clinton Intermediate School.  A large part of fifth grade is preparing for greater independence in middle school next year.  The class has developed rules based on the philosophy that every child has the right to a safe environment and the right to learn.  The Clinton School District sent home a Discipline Handbook with each child on the first day of school.  Please refer to this if you have questions regarding specific rules.  The intermediate school uses peer mediation and conflict resolution plans to help students solve peer conflicts.
